International Business Machines (IBM) has joined Guinness and taken a step back from its operations in Nigeria. After over 50 years of engagement in the country where it also backed technological advancements, the American technology company said it is exiting.

More so, it said that operations in other African nations would be withdrawn at a later date.

In a statement, IBM wrote that its region-wide operations will be handed to a third-party company, MIBB, a Midis Group subsidiary. Henceforth, all IBM products and services in 36 African countries will be marketed and sold by MIBB.

Other Tech Giants that have taken similar steps in recent years are Meta and Microsoft. These companies have now scaled down on all levels of their functions in Nigeria to reduce their physical presence in the country.
