Unharmed but Traumatized as the Welfare of the Returned Kidnapped Girls is Questioned

While others remain caged, some of the kidnapped girls from Kebbi State in Nigeria have been confirmed freed and located. It is more appropriate to presume that the girls are unharmed, however, the full picture health, psychological wellbeing, follow-up remains uncertain.

Unharmed for now seems to refer to lack of overt injury without taking into account their mental condition.

Parents and school staff continue to experience anxiety for still-missing students from other recent mass kidnappings. The trauma associated with these attacks remains high among those affected.​

Reports indicate great relief from authorities and families over their safe return, ignoring any efforts to help the girls reintegrate.

While these Kebbi girls have been freed, hundreds of schoolchildren and teachers remain unaccounted for after recent incidents in Niger State.​
