The FBI is actively pursuing a Lagos-based internet fraudster, popularly known as a “Yahoo Boy,” identified as Mr. Aigbokhan, for defrauding U.S. President Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration fund.

According to reports, Aigbokhan is wanted in connection with a sophisticated cryptocurrency fraud and money laundering scheme linked to the inauguration event.

The investigation reveals that the suspect allegedly exploited digital currencies to siphon funds intended for inauguration activities, using complex laundering methods to conceal the origin and destination of the stolen money.

The FBI has issued an arrest warrant and is collaborating with Nigerian authorities, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to apprehend him.

This case is part of a broader crackdown on internet fraud syndicates operating out of Lagos, where large-scale “Yahoo Yahoo” gangs—often involving foreign nationals.

They recruit and train young Nigerians to execute various scams, including romance fraud, investment fraud, and cryptocurrency scams.

These syndicates operate from seemingly legitimate offices, such as a seven-story building on Victoria Island, Lagos.

The EFCC has intensified efforts to dismantle such networks, arresting hundreds of suspects in recent years and recovering significant assets.

The collaboration with the FBI is key to tackling cross-border fraud that affects victims worldwide, including high-profile targets like the U.S. government.

This ongoing pursuit highlights the increasing sophistication of Nigerian cybercriminals and the international law enforcement response aimed at curbing their activities.
