Corp Members Have Now Received ₦77, 000
In

The payment of the N77,000 monthly allowance, which was promised to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, is now active, as confirmed by many.

They received notifications from their banks of the updated amounts on Wednesday afternoon.

The new DG of NYSC, Brigadier General OO Nafiu, at a meeting at the NYSC headquarters last week, had confirmed that the system would be updated and that the subsequent payments would be complete.

More so, the Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande, had been on a TV interview to address the issue. He said that the backlog would be settled by the end of March.

This puts all frustrations and disputes to rest.

A corp member had recently expressed her frustration on social media and called President Tinubu “terrible.” The updated system and full payment of ₦ 77,000 were the response to the video.

The reactions from corp members were triggered not just by the high cost of things in the country, but also by the delay in the implementation of the already approved amount.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier approved an increase in NYSC allowance of ₦ 77, 000. However, during the announcement of the 2025 budget, the increase was omitted, which sounds completely wrong. The reason for this omission is unknown, as NYSC allowance requires budgetary allocations and should have been on the federal budget.

NYSC allowance was never in the federal budget, Olawande explained that clearly.
