Nigeria Earns “Global Leader in AI Adoption” Title, Google–Ipsos Report Reveals

A new report by Google and Ipsos has ranked Nigeria among the leading countries globally in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), underscoring the country’s growing digital momentum.

The findings which are contained in the latest Google–Ipsos AI Attitudes Report was released as part of the duo’s third consecutive year of collaboration. The report is aimed at understanding public perceptions and usage of artificial intelligence worldwide.

The study was conducted between September 22 and October 10, 2025. It drew responses from approximately 1,000 adults aged 18 and above in each participating country, representative of their online populations.

Countries covered in the survey include Nigeria, Brazil, India, Mexico, South Africa, Argentina, and several others, with data collected through Ipsos’ online panels.

According to the report, 88 percent of Nigerian adults now use AI chatbots for various purposes. Education, business operations, and entrepreneurial activities are all included. This marks an 18 percent increase from the previous year, highlighting one of the fastest growth rates in AI adoption globally.

Analysts say the figures point to Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital culture, driven largely by its youthful population. More so, widespread mobile internet use and a strong appetite for tools that enhance productivity, learning, and income generation both play a part in the outcome.

The report notes that Nigerians are increasingly leveraging AI to support online learning, content creation, customer service, data analysis, and small business management, applications that are becoming essential in a competitive and digitally driven economy.
