Four Certified Tax Laws in Nigeria
In

The House of Representatives, led by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, in coordination with the Senate President Gossilla Pabio, has officially released the four tax reform Acts as Certified True Copies (CTCs) for public record, verification, and reference. This follows concerns over inconsistencies in circulating versions of Nigeria’s new tax laws.

This action directly addresses earlier reports and public controversy about unauthorized or inconsistent versions of the laws. The concerns included doubts about the integrity of the legislative record. The discrepancies were first flagged by a vigilant lawmaker, prompting an internal verification process within the National Assembly.

By releasing the certified versions, the House has clarified that only these copies are authoritative. This reinforces the legislative commitment to transparency and accountability, while safeguarding the official legal record.

The Four Certified Tax Laws

  1. Nigeria Tax Act, 2025
  2. Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025
  3. National Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025
  4. Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act, 2025

These laws are aimed at modernizing revenue administration as well as improving compliance and efficiency. Moreover, they will strengthen fiscal coordination across all tiers of government

Speaker Tajudeen emphasized that these certified versions are the only legally recognized texts and that the National Assembly’s Clerk has ensured uniform printing and distribution to all lawmakers. An ad hoc committee is also investigating how unauthorized copies circulated, to prevent similar lapses in the future.
